Best Bridesmaids Dance Songs for an Indian / South Asian Wedding

Updated: Sep 26, 2021

Choosing songs for a group dance performance can be a real struggle. If your bridal party will be performing at your reception or sangeet, hopefully this guide will help you pick the perfect Bollywood tracks for your Bridesmaids dance performance.

GANESH MANTRA - Various Artists

Starting a dance with a Ganesh Mantra is such a sweet and thoughtful gesture, and will be so meaningful to the couple's family. Lord Ganesh is a remover of obstacles, and there is no better blessing for someone embarking on a new chapter of their life. There are so many options for a Ganesh Mantra dance. You can pick a slower tempo song, like 'Vakratunda Mahakaya' by Anuradha Paudwal, or something much faster like 'Gajanana' from Bajirao Mastani.

MEHNDI HAI RACHNEWALI - A.R. Rahman, Alka Yagnik - Zubeidaa

If you'd like something more traditional, this track is perfect for a Sangeet performance. Mehndi Hain Rachnewali in Hindi means "the henna is being applied". It's a very sentimental song about the bride and her friends thinking about all the happiness and love that is headed the bride's way. Perfect for a group or solo dance. Another great option for a traditional sangeet performance is "Chalka Chalka" from the film Saathiya.

O JIJI - Shreya Ghosal, Pamela Jain - Vivaah

This is a cute song for a sangeet or reception for sisters or friends of the bride to perform to. The lyrics are playful, asking the bride what she'll call her new husband when he arrives as her groom. If you're looking for a more classic version of this type of track, check out "Sun Sun Sun Didi" from the movie Khubsoorat starring Rekha. This track involves a younger sister telling her older sister about a "rishta" for her, and then slowly reveals that the candidate is quite less than ideal! Parents will absolutely love this sweet and playful track.

YAAD PIYA KI AANE LAGI - Neha Kakkar - Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi

If you want to get a little more modern, try this track featuring the sultry voice of Neha Kakkar. Remake of a classic by Falguni Pathak, it beautifully captures the sentiments of a young woman thinking of the man she loves and dreaming of her wedding day. It's a track which everybody knows and can sing along to.

HIGH HEELS TE NACHCHE - Meet Bros., Yo Yo Honey Singh, Jaz Dhami, Aditi Singh Sharma - Ki & Ka

If you want to speed up the tracks and get the party going, try this track from the film Ki & Ka. The song is about a girl who looks stunning when she dances in her high heels. It can't get any more perfect for all the bridesmaids who will be dressed to the nines. Make sure you ask your choreographer for steps where you can (safely) show off your sexy stilettos!

KAMARIYA - Aastha Gill - Stree

If you want to get a little sensuous during your performance, this track is a tasteful way to incorporate a little hip twist in your dance. "Kamariya hila de" means "move your waist", so the choreo can include a fun little shimmy. The song features a sumptuous saxophone break, which is easily the best part of this track. Make sure you include it in your mix!

There are so many other tracks that you can use for your Bridesmaids Dance Performance, and hopefully the above will give you some inspiration for your upcoming performance. Reach out to Soni from Khoobsurat Choreography for more ideas and inspiration for your choreography & song selection.
